Howdy & Namaste,
We are a gay-owned body positive yoga studio dedicated to joy, celebration, healing, and fun.
One of our driving questions is how do we as a community assist each person we interact with in singing their life song?
We recognize each person is a gift in our community & welcome the expression of that gift.
You are beautiful!
Providing a container for the (often messy) experience of learning -
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming, friendly, fun, and cherished space for students of all backgrounds and levels. Tiger Lily is a learning space, a place where you come to learn about yourself, your life, and your work in the world at this time. We recognize that sometimes learning doesn't look graceful and elegant, but messy and clumsy. We recognize that if we want to run we must learn to walk and learning to walk means we must fall down sometimes. We are committed to providing the container for all of us - students, staff, and owners to be able to soar and succeed as well as falter and learn.
The space -
We are committed to keeping yoga affordable and accessible. We are committed to making yoga mats available for you to use if you forget yours and complimentary tea to warm the tummy. We are a warm studio, our heat hovers around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The four wisdom bodies -
The body loves to move and is designed to move. And movement of the physical body is one of the ways we access the other three wisdom bodies: the emotional body, the mental body, and the spirit body. And we are committed to providing the space for all your being to show up.
Integrating in the larger community -
Carita means charity in Sanskrit. It is the practice of giving to those in need as a means of lessening the the negative aspects of the ego and for the benefit of the larger community. Tiger Lily is dedicated to the practice of carita through our scholarship fund. This fund currently supports Seattle's foster youth by giving classes to Tree House for Kids. In 2015 we donated 50 free yoga classes to Tree House, to Seattle's foster kids (guardians also attend for free). We will be expanding this scholarship program as we grow. We also offer Pay-What-You-Can classes so that no matter your budget, You Can Afford Yoga.
It is our sincerest and deepest honor to welcome you to the studio and we thank you for practicing with us.
